Roter Salon
Volksbühne side room with red velvet and a piano bar.
A closer look.
Nestled within the iconic Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, the Roter Salon stands as one of Berlin’s most evocative and versatile cultural chambers. The room is celebrated for its unique character, providing an intimate setting that feels like a high-end salon while maintaining the edge of a contemporary performance space. It serves as a vital bridge between the city's institutional art world and its vibrant underground, frequently hosting collaborative series like 'Hamburger Bahnhof On Tour.' Whether it is a musical theater performance, a literary reading, or an experimental concert, the venue offers a distinct 'Hausmusik' vibe that is rare in the city. Its programming is a sophisticated mix of the avant-garde and the celebrated, making it a cornerstone for those seeking intellectual and sensory stimulation. The Roter Salon remains a 'Dauerbrenner'—a long-running favorite—for its ability to adapt to diverse artistic visions while maintaining its own historic charm.
